An individual who has earned their community nurse degree works with the public in order to help educate them on healthcare, and also to perform preventative medicine through classes or education. If you have decided that you are interested in attending community nurse school, then here are some of the steps that you will need to follow:

1. Do your research. As with any career, one of the best things that you can do before attending community nurse school is see if you can find someone in your area who is working as a community nurse school graduate to talk to. This person can provide you with insights into what their day-to-day activities look like, what the schooling process entailed, and what the job prospects are in your area.
2. Get accepted into nursing school. Your community nurse schooling will really just be nursing school. In order to get accepted into community nurse school you will therefore require the prerequisites of any nursing program, which include high school math and science courses. Most community nurse degree programs will be highly competitive, so you will need to have a strong grade average.
3. Pass your nursing courses. In order to move ahead in your community nurse schooling it will be important that you earn high grades in all of your nursing courses.
4. Take specialty courses. As part of your nursing program you will have the option to take several elective courses wherein you will able to focus on specific areas of nursing that may be of interest to you. This will be your opportunity to take community nurse courses, and to learn more about the skills needed to work as a community nurse school graduate in graduation. In addition to your community nurse courses, you may also want to consider taking some related courses: including perhaps public speaking, or even courses on teaching.
5. Focus your internships.An important part of your community nurse degree will be your internships. Since you will have already taken community nurse courses you will be prepared to take related internships, and put those skills to use.
6. Start work. Once you have completed all of your community nurse school courses, as well as the internships required, you will be ready to find work in the field. Good luck!
